How do I use instant credits? There is nothing in the FAQ section about how to use it, only how to buy.

Just start producing units somewhere, to use the credit hover your mouse over the recruit button and you will see the option to use it just right next to the troops.

Do you mean upgrades like Experienced Troops? They automatically take effect. For example, if you purchase a troop upgrade, your troops will be automatically upgraded across your empire. Another example, if you buy an attack distance increase, your map will automatically open up.
